Israel, Climate, Immigration, TikTok: Trump Signs a Slew of Destructive Executive Orders on Day 1
Trump has sprinted to begin implementing his agenda on day 1. Here are some of his most notable actions.
Trump has moved quickly to begin implementing his agenda, signing a slew of executive orders hours after being sworn into office. Here are some of his most notable executive actions so far:
Rescinds Sanctions Against Violent Israeli Settlers in West Bank
Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement
It’s worth noting that one of the primary goals of the Paris Climate Agreement is to keep average global warming from rising over 1.5 C above preindustrial levels. It appears that we may be approaching or have already passed this threshold recently in part because of actions like withdrawal from this agreement during Trump’s last presidency.
Withdrawal from the World Health Organization
Sweeping Pardons for January 6 Rioters
Just days prior, JD Vance expressed that violent protestors shouldn’t receive clemency or pardons, and yet it appears as though Trump’s order gives clemency to nearly everyone involved on January 6th, including members of far-right groups like the Oath Keepers.
TikTok Ban Non-enforcement
Section 3(c) of this order caveats that the order is effectively a non-enforceable promise. Additionally, as of the time of this writing, Apple has not reinstated the ability to download TikTok from the App Store.
Immigration National Emergency (Militarize the Border, Resume Wall Construction)
Denial of Birthright Citizenship for Children Born to Undocumented Immigrants
This flies in the face of longstanding interpretations of the 14th amendment, which promises citizenship to virtually everyone born on US soil, regardless of parental citizenship status.
Elimination of DEI and Gender Diversity Programs Across Government
